Overview

The Financial Literacy Specialist is responsible for the coordination of the national delivery of the CBA’s Your Money and Your Money Seniors programs. In addition, the Specialist will contribute to the Association’s other financial literacy efforts, coordinating with member banks on their financial literacy activities and assisting with the industry’s engagement with the National Financial Literacy Steering Committee. The Financial Literacy Specialist reports to the Manager, Communications.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize Your Money Students seminars in high schools across the country, and Your Money Seniors seminars across the country with groups that request seminars. This work includes acting as the liaison between high schools and seniors’ groups, teachers/organizers and banker volunteer presenters;
  • Assist in the development of materials for the Your Money programs, including identifying new and innovative ways to market and promote the programs to ensure maximum uptake by the constituent groups targeted;
  • From time to time, deliver the Your Money seminars to constituent groups;
  • Recruitment of and build relationships with new banker volunteers for the delivery of Your Money and Your Money Seniors programs;
  • Coordinating the engagement of bankers volunteering to deliver the Your Money programs, including scheduling and logistics and providing bankers with materials;
  • Assisting with annual reporting to members and annual volunteer appreciation efforts;
  • Responding to inquiries about the seminars from relevant stakeholders;
  • Conduct research in areas of financial literacy, as needed, in support of the CBA’s financial literacy programming, as well as broader industry efforts including the industry’s work in support of the goals of the National Financial Literacy steering Committee;
  • Provide assistance and support for the administration of the CBA’s Financial Literacy Steering Committee (a member committee);
  • Work with the Office Services team to deliver program materials and to manage the Your Money database including data entry.

Key Qualifications, Abilities and Skills

  • Successfully achieved your undergraduate degree. A Bachelor of Education and a passion for education would be considered a strong asset;
  • Superior and professional oral and written communication skills, including presentations to groups;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a commitment to taking initiative;
  • Proven ability to be a team player;
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and to work independently and assume responsibility;
  • Experience working in the financial literacy field would be considered an asset;
  • Fluency in French would be considered an asset.
